Y. E Yang and Co: Will They Inspire Malaysian Professionals?

South Korean Yang Yong-eun’s win in the recently concluded PGA Championships sent shockwaves through the golfing dynasty as he toppled the invincible Tiger Woods, who for the first time ever, relinquished his lead after topping the leader board going into the final round of a major championship. 14 times Tiger has led into the final round of a Major championship, and all 14 times he has triumphed. Not this time though, due to the perseverance and brilliance of a certain Yang Yong-eun who emerged as the first Asian to win a Major title, surpassing the runners-up finishes secured by Lu Liang-Huan in the 1971 Open Championship, Japan’s Isao Aoki in the 1980 U.S. Open and Tze-Chung Chen in the 1985 U.S. Open.
